Everyone does it. The nights that you can't sleep and begin to go down rabbit holes you never would usually go down. That's how my journey into the world of spice, romance and adventure found me.
One sleepless night while sitting in bed playing Scrabble on my phone, an ad comes in for a Manga story. The small 30 second add got my attention and suddenly it was more interesting than my game.
I clicked on the ad, read the first few chapters and was hooked. I instantly went on Amazon and found 5 volumes! I read all of them in 2 days!! But it wasn't enough. I immediately began trolling for any information on the book and Suji. I ended up finding MORE volumes, continuing the story. There was only one problem. The books were only available on a Korean website.
I immediately jumped at the chance for more of the story! I went on the website, transferred money from US to Korean money and bought what was available! Once I was caught up, I had to wait for more. One chapter was released every 2 weeks. It was maddening!! To occupy my time and my obsession, I kept reading the volumes from Amazon and what was available. I LITERALLY read the book front to back over 2 dozen times!!
One day while having morning coffee with my aunt, I told her all about the book. She introduced me to the world of books! And the rest is history. I delved into every genre and morning coffee with my aunt turned into morning coffee and bookclub. Exchanging books and recommendations. I grew a passion for it and knew I wanted to share my love of books and add friendships into my life with people who love them like I do.
Under the Oak Tree will forever be my favorite book. Whenever I hit a reading slum, I always return to it. I was over the moon when she released the first volume! It now sits front and center on my bookshelf as well as my heart.
